Symptomatic case of type 1 accessory navicular bone: A case report

Accessory Navicular Bone (ANB) (os navicularum or os tibiale externum) is a common variant of secondary ossification present in 5 to 10 % the population. Due its unique anatomical location foot and associated relation with tibialis posterior tendon, these are usually symptomatic type 2 ANB 3 stages. Often patients can develop plantar fascitis bunions calcaneal spur.Case Report: A 20 year old female had history pain over medial aspect midfoot for 1 year. She consulted many centers pain. Patient twist injury same back has been diagnosed treated same. Pain subsided months again she similar which was as case conservatively. Later radiographs showed ANB, but conservatively analgesics sole raise failed. Finally surgical excision advancement done flat relief achieved.Discussion: Most asymptomatic, incidental finding mostly not requiring any intervention. Cause this patient misdiagnosed sprained initially lateral attributed fasciitis, even after radiography ANB.Conclusion: In that be cause due local mechanical factors. But also severe pain, easily missed fascitis. This required relief.
